Foundation Production Evaluation Q7

Evaluation Question 7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

From the Premlinary task, I feel I have learnt a lot. My skills with editing on Photoshop has improved dramatically, as well as the layout of my pages. Comparing the two front pages I have created, there are obvious differences.

This is the front cover for my preliminary task. Its quite simple, and doesn't really show any skill at all. Compared to my front cover for my actual production:

As you can see, there is definite differences. I have a variety of different fonts and colours, with the main photogragh taking up the whole page. I've added a bar-code also, and the price of the magazine, which I hadn't thought about adding on my preliminary task front cover. I have learnt how to lay out the page better, and making the text more readable with the different background.

Double Page Spread

This is a print screen of pages 3 and 4. As I have run out of space, I am taking inspiration from other magazines, such as 'Q', and making the double page spread go onto a 3rd page. I have added quotes from the text, and dotted it around the page. I've kept the quotes the same font as the title as well as the colour, and as for the text, I have it all in Arial, and the size of font varies from 10 to 12.

This is the start of my 3rd page for my double page spread.

This is the final draft until I get feedback and corrections of the 3rd page of my double page spread. I'm not quite sure what else to add, so I will wait for feedback and make changes then. I have carried on with the same fonts and sizes from the other pages.

Foundation Production Evaluation Q6

Evaluation Question 6. What have you learnt about technologies in the process of constructing your film?

Whilst producing my magazine, I had to use certain types of technology to create it.  It is all presented in four different catergories, which are: Planning Research, Production, Post Production and Evaluation. Within the production, I had used my own digital still camera, to create a variety of shots, as well as test shots and the final ones.

For my planning research, I had to find out the background information for other magazines, the main one being the magazine 'Q'. I used Google to find out the top 50-100 music magazines, and used examples from the top ones. I had also used examples from other magazines to get an idea for page layouts.

I had also used photoshop. This was the main software that I had to used to edit my photos, as well as creating the magazine itself. I also used Microsoft Publisher to help create the double-page spread. With these, I edited the lighting, as well as highlighting key parts of the photos, and croping the photo itself with the crop tool.

For the post-production, I mainly focused on the layout of the pages. This also included more editing with the photographs, using Photoshop. As well as laying out the pages, I had included the writing side of the magazine within it.

For the evaluation, I had used Blogger.com to help write out and answer the questions, as well as updating key parts of my magazine that I have added to.
